How to Record
Sports Games.

A practical checklist for capturing great footage with live score overlays from the stands or sideline.

01

Set up your phone and angle

Choose a steady position with a clear view of the full court or field. A higher angle is usually best for tracking the action and keeping all players in frame. A tripod makes a significant difference for 60-minute games.

02

Choose your scoring mode

Record with a live score overlay for a broadcast look, or use Score-Only Mode if you only need a scoreboard without video. Score-Only Mode saves storage and battery when the full recording is not needed.

03

Add team names

Customize team names so viewers can follow the action at a glance. Keep names short — they appear on the overlay throughout the recording. You can change them between sets if needed.

04

Keep scores updated

Update points, sets, or periods as the game progresses. The overlay stays clear without blocking the play. If you are using an iPad on a tripod, pair it with your iPhone for remote control — update scores from the bench.

05

Stream live when it matters

If you want remote viewers to watch in real time, stream to Twitch or Facebook while recording. Varsity Score saves a full local HD copy simultaneously — you always have the recording regardless of the stream.

06

Share highlights right after the game

When recording stops, the video is already in your Photos app. Share directly via AirDrop, Messages, or any other app. The score overlay is baked into the video — no editing required.
